2019 Registration is Now Open!
“I joined "Learn-to-Row" with no experience and no expectations, but it looked like a fun and different way to get a workout. I didn't even know if I could do it, but I wanted to give it a try. I soon found that I LOVED it. With the support of the coaches, members of the club and my fellow rowing boat mates, I gained the confidence and experience to be an equal part of a great team. Now, I forget that I'm getting a GREAT workout when I'm having fun rowing with many new friends." - former LTR Participant
Learn To Row!
The Annapolis Rowing Club (ARC) Learn-to-Row (LTR) Program is designed to give prospective rowers a ‘taste’ of our sport, and to allow individuals to determine if they would like to enter into the ARC Novice Rowing Program. Individuals attending LTR will learn safety, terminology and basic rowing skills from both land-based and on-the-water training sessions with experienced ARC rowers. By the end of the session, you will have a very good idea if this sport is right for you. Experienced coaches, rowers and ARC volunteers will be on hand during the LTR sessions to assist and answer all of your questions. Those who complete this weekend session will be eligible to enroll in the ARC Novice Program.
This program is geared for the Masters (adult) rower at least 19 years of age.
Watch a Session in Action:
Here is a video taken from day two during a past season Learn-to-Row Session. This is a group of LTR rowers sandwiched in the middle six of this eight-person boat that all just learned to row for the first time the day prior. This video shows the group rowing "by all eight" for the first time. They were recovering with blades on the water for added stability and balance. Their timing looks great as they are just learning how to all move up the slide together as one boat.
